Artists Featured From Across the Country
The St. Marks Stone Crab Festival is excited to have another great line-up of artists and craftsmen for the 2016 event. We have over 30 returning vendors and at least another 30 new ones. With 12,000 plus visitors, there will be something for everyone.
There are many artists from the Big Bend area as well as from central Florida. Alabama, Georgia, and North Carolina craftsmen are represented, as well. A stone jeweler will be here from Montana. It will be a nice mix of folks to meet and wares to see.
There will be pottery, furniture, photography, paintings, and carvings available to those looking for unique art. Jewelry of all types will be offered for those who want to buy for themselves or as gifts for others. For the outdoor lovers, kayaks, performance clothing, fishing gear, sunglasses & hats will be available for you. If you are the beachy type, you will want to find The Beach Trader and Worn by the Sea for your selections. Handmade items will be displayed throughout the venue but if you are looking for something a little more exotic, try Arte Mexico.
Bring the kids. They will have great fun across the street at the COAST Charter School Kid’s Zone with games, food and fun. Sweet Peas Pony Ride is returning to the Festival, giving children a chance to ride their first pony. As families make their way over to the main area, they can stop by BJ’s Party House for face painting or Kiwilou for handmade toys.
Eighty-eight year old Art Wilhelm a self-taught artist who likes to paint scenes of times past will return again this year. He has painted murals on the walls of churches, homes and business for many, many years. Visit with Art at Paintings by Art Wilhelm.
EZ Hang Chairs are purveyors of the world ’s finest chairs and hammocks. More than just a piece of furniture or a chair, it’s living art. “Its art which we can live within”, said Mark Watts. If you need to relax and just “Hang Out”, they have heard your call!
The St. Marks Stone Crab Festival committee has always welcomed Non-profit organizations to our festival free of charge. They are the ones who come and spend the entire day sharing information and giving away freebies to the public. The Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission has been a part of all of our fall events. The Black Bear program, with their “Be a Bear” program for children has always been a hit with the little ones. The Marine Fisheries Conservation and the Big Bend Coastal Conservancy teaches us how to help and to preserve our natural resources. Be sure to go by and visit with them at the park on the St. Marks River.
The St. Marks Stone Crab Committee welcomes you to come and enjoy shopping with our many talented vendors. They look forward to talking with you and helping with that special gift for someone on your list. Or just perhaps you will find that special item for your home or yourself. So if you come for the day or for a little while, we look forward to seeing you and hope you enjoy St. Marks and the St. Marks Stone Crab Festival.
